- North Carolina Councils of Governments
-
The North Carolina Councils of Government are voluntary associations of county and municipal governments, established by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1972.[1]
Originally numbering 18, the 17 current regional associations handle services which are generally more economic to coordinate on a regional, rather than local level, including economic development, environmental protection, land-use planning, and services for the elderly.Region A Southwestern Commission
