Félixer Danilo Gómez (born August 29, 1980),[2] known by his stage name DJ Flex and Nigga,[2] is a Panamanian Latin Grammy Award winning reggaeton artist. He adopted the name Nigga after being told by another Panamanian artist that he "sang like a black guy from Jamaica."[3] Before releasing an album in the United States in 2008, Flex removed references to his nickname in songs, and his CD packages were reprinted with the name "Flex."[3]

Career

Flex began his music career in 1997 when he was featured in the CD Sin Censura VOL. 1 in a song called “Como Puedo Cantar” which was a duet with Toby King. In the year 2000 producer Celia Torres gave Flex the opportunity to be part of the cd las propias 2000. It was in this cd that Flex became known internationally with the song "Dejala" ft Duende. After gaining success throughout South and Central America with his song "Dejala", Flex recorded the song "Tus Recuerdos", which became a Mother's Day anthem in Latin America.[4] He reached top fame and had huge success in 2008 after releasing the single "Te Quiero" from the album Te Quiero: Romantic Style In Da World.[1] The year of the album's release, Flex sold out hundreds of shows throughout Mexico and Central America.[4]

In 2009, Flex released a follow-up album La Evolución Romantic Style, with the lead single "Dime Si Te Vas Con El" co-written by Fernando "Saik" Cabrera.[4] That song, along with the second single "Te Amo Tanto", pushed the album to platinum sales status.[4]

In 2010 Flex released Romantic Style Parte 3: Desde La Esencia, and plans to release a Part 4 in 2011.[1] The first single of this album was "Besos de Amor" ft Ricky Rick. In 2011 Alexis y Fido released "Contestame el Telefono" which features Flex.
