Like the Grammy Awards, the Latin Grammys recognize artistic and technical excellence in the recording arts and sciences by peer vote (the Latin Grammy Awards Process). It has already come to represent the height of achievement in Latin music recording. The 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards took place on November 8, 2007 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and aired on Univision. Juan Luis Guerra was the night's big winner. He won a record 5 Awards including Album of the Year. The 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will be held at the Toyota Center in Houston on November 13, 2008.
