Coombe Dean School, opened in 1976, is a state comprehensive school in England with around 1000 pupils. It is situated in the south-east fringe suburbs of Plymouth, Devon. It gained specialist school status in September 2003 as an ICT and Mathematics school. In 2004, work started on building a larger hall (for assemblies and exhibitions) an all-weather astro-turf pitch complete with floodlights, and an extended mathematics facility with 8 new classrooms.

The Local Education Authority is Plymouth City Council. In July 2008 the council refused the school's application to erect two wind turbines for electricity generation; over the half-term holidays (24 October - 3 November 2008), solar panels were integrated into the roof of the School Drama Hall.

  • In 2001, Andrew Honywill, a founder member of local football teams Yealm GR and Goosewell Celtic, became one of the youngest men, at 18, ever to achieve the FA Coaching Qualification. He also ran his own football clubs for youngsters and planned to visit Nepal after his A levels to coach there [1]. He did, training the Nepal Football Academy under 16s team for the National Association of Football Fans of Nepal's Mayos Cup. He is now coaching in New Zealand.
  • In 1992 Mark Williams, a former student, became the youngest person ever to join the elite Special Air Service Regiment.
