The Black Mountain Salamander (Desmognathus welteri) is a species of salamander in the Plethodontidae family. It is endemic to the United States.

Its natural habitats are temperate forests, rivers, intermittent rivers, intermittent freshwater marshes, and freshwater springs. It is threatened by habitat loss.
