Frank Barrett (footballer)

Frank Barrett (2 August, 187222 March 1907), born Francis Barnett, was a Scottish football goalkeeper. He was born in Dundee.

Barrett played for Dundee Harp before joining Dundee upon their foundation in 1893.cite book | last = Lamming | first = Douglas | title = A Scottish Soccer Internationalists Who’s Who, 1872-1986 | format = Hardback | publisher = Hutton Press | year = 1987 | id = (ISBN 0-907033-47-4) ] While with the "Dark Blues" he won two caps for Scotland in 1894 and 1895. In September 1896, he signed for Manchester United, which was then called Newton Heath. He made 132 appearances in his career at Newton Heath, scoring no goals. In May 1900, he left Newton Heath for New Brighton Tower. In 1901 he briefly returned to Manchester, making eight appearances for Manchester City. In 1903, he became one of the founding players of Aberdeen. He died in 1907 aged 35.
