Deer Creek Middle School (DCMS) is a public middle school located in Littleton, Colorado. The school is notable for two school shootings that having taken place, the first in 1982 and the second in 2010. Littleton is also home to Columbine High School, the scene of the Columbine school schooting by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

The 1982 shooting occurred on April 7, 1982. The gunman, 14-year-old Jason Rocha, was a student at Deer Creek Middle School. Rocha shot and killed 13 year-old Scott Darwin Michael.

Rocha was charged as an adult and sentenced to 12 years in prison. He served his time in a CAT (Closed Adolescent Treatment) facility in Lakewood, Colorado. The CAT program was the subject of some media scrutiny, with Rocha and other "All-American Boys" involved in such violent crimes.[1][2]

The 2010 shooting took place at around 3:15PM MST on February 23, 2010, when 32 year old Bruco Eastwood entered Deer Creek Middle School and checked in for an appointment, and then left. He took a single shot high-powered hunting rifle from the trunk of his car and returned to the school, and then opened fire, wounding one female seventh grade student and one male eighth grade student. The eighth grader was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition for about 4 days. The seventh grader was released from the hospital later on that night after the shooting happened. Eastwood was taken down by Deer Creek Middle School math teacher David Benke and was taken into custody by the police.[3][4]
