Atiye Deniz (born November 22, 1988, Bremen) is a Turkish singer.

Brief Introduction

With her identity being shaped by Turkish and European cultures, Atiye Deniz set foot on Turkey so that she can establish herself the promising musical career that she's been noted to possibly achieve. After some help with some well known Turkish composers and lyric writers, Atiye's voice began to be heard by the whole world. With the two cultures being embedded into her mind, her talent allowed for a new sort of genre which binds, Turkish oriental music tunes, R&B rhythms as well as Soul to evolve. With this introduction, Atyie managed to place this twist of combination of sounds on par with other genres that are generally appericiated and adored amonst Turks.

Childhood and Education

The reason for this early success at the age of 18 comes from the diverse musical world that she grew up in. Daughter of a Turkish father and a Dutch Mother, Deniz was born in the city of Bremen, Germany on the 22nd of November, 1988. She went through the first half of her elementary education in Bremen and the second half being completed in İzmir, Turkey. Later on, she would complete her secondary studies in four diffierent nations, spending a year in each of the following nations, The USA, The Netherlands, France and finally back in Bremen.

Don't Think (Sanma)

The musical culture inherited from her family, along with the tom-tom tunes rising from her father's fingers helped her develop a great sense of musical rhythm along the way. At the age of six, she started to receive piano lessons and she continued her musical Works with a famous Bulgarian pianist during those years. Achieving these musical skills allowed Atiye to create most of the music, lyrics and tunes of her songs. After some help from Turkish music professionals, Atiye's first release was ready in the song called, "Don't Think (Sanma)". The song spread like wildfire in terms of popularity managing to become an instant radio hit upon its release. It's simplicity in sound which managed to combine R&B rhythms along with a little bit of rap, which was all sung in English and Turkish may have made it unique enough to become the popular hit that it became. The vido clip of the song song was also professionally produced and was one of the most watched videos upon its release. The video also featured the dance techniques she had learnt during her time in studying music. All of this spelled the reasons behind her instant success in the Turkish music industry.

Gözyaşlarım

Following the hype behind, "Don't Think (Sanma)" - Atiye would then go on to release her album, "Gözyaşlarım" (My Tears) on March 1 of this year. With the release of her album came the release of her second video Clip that was also called, "Gözyaşlarım". The song was almost the polar opposite to the style "Don't Think (Sanma)" was in. It was a simple Turkish pop track which didn't fail to deliver in terms of its popularity. This then deemed for the release of 3rd video clip and next in line came, "Hali hali hal" which is actually a Syrian Arabic folk song. With that in mind, Atiye sings the song in both Arabic and Turkish as she combines the folk arrangements of the song with those of modern Turkish oriental music.

uccess at the 2006 KRAL Video Music Awards

The release of, "Hali hali hal" raised Atyie's attention and credibility amongst Turks for the variety of genres she's managed to release, as well as bring to attention to music listeners. This formula would eventually contribute to her being nominated for Turkey's most watched and anticipated music awards, which are the KRAL Video music awards. Atyie was nominated in the category of, "Best debuting Female in 2006" in the Turkish music industry. She ended up competing against Betül Demir, Eylem, İrem and Nesilhan who was actually favoured to win this category. When the results were presented this past May, Atyie ended up taking it all, as the decision for each of the categories was completely left up to the public to decide. Taking this award showed that her popularity managed to win the Turkish public over, ahead of other hot artists that had been debuting their music at the time. So this achievement was a huge milestone attainment for an artist who debuted herself last, compared to those who were also nominated for this category.

4th Video Release

"Beyaz Eşya" would the be the 4th video clip Atiye would release, which managed to combine hints of R&B rhythms with those of Ethnic folk sounds. The song's appeal on the radio stations across Turkey was mild but nevertheless, noticeable to those who had been keeping tracks of the popular songs being present at the charts. With all this success in mind, Atyie success so far is remarkable, as she's managed to blend all sorts of genres together, along with singing in a variety of languages as well. All this managed to earn her a lot of support from new fans she has made and is bound to continue impressing them with perhaps new materials to come.
