The Nor Cal Red Hawks are a women's football team based in Sacramento, California. They are members of the Independent Women's Football League. They played in 2010 as an exhibition team and began play of their first regular season in 2011. However, injuries postponed their 2011 season. The Red Hawks currently play in the league's six-man division. There are two other women's football teams in the capital, with one of them being in the same league as the Red Hawks: the Sacramento Sirens, who are a part of the Pacific West Division of the Iwfl's Tier I, and the Sacramento Rush, who are a part of the Women's Football Alliance.
The Red Hawks are holding their 2nd annual six-week mini camp, which began on November 5, 2011. Those interested in attending can register at the team's website. The official kick-off for training for the 2012 season begins January 28, 2012.
Currently there are 13 players listed on the 2011 team roster. However, recruiting for the Red Hawks is still ongoing.
On April 4, the Palm Springs Desert Fire Cats, who were on the Red Hawk's schedule for May 7 and June 11, declared that they would not play in 2011, so the schedule was reduced to four games from the originally planned six games. The season has been stopped, and the game on May 21 against the Ventura Black Widows was held for rescheduling, with many hurt players in the Red Hawks' 19-6 loss to the Reno Rattlers as the causes.
