Coopertown is an unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located about 20 miles (32 km) west of Miami on U.S. Route 41 {Tamiami Trail}. Coopertown is famous for being the original air boat tour operators, beginning in the 1940s when tourists along {Tamiami Trail} requested rides on airboats. Famous for serving Alligator meat and frog legs, Coopertown is popular among international tourists. Local characters, such as the popular Skipper Scooter, add to the charm of this outpost in the Everglades.
