The Brown Mackie College schools are owned by Education Management Corporation, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

History

Brown Mackie College — Hopkinsville, formerly know as Michiana College, is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the United States. The college’s long history of offering career education and training dates back to its establishment in 1882 as the Fort Wayne Commercial College. In 2003, the parent corporation of Michiana College was acquired by Education Management Corporation, and in 2004, Michiana College changed its name to Brown Mackie College — Fort Wayne.

Accreditation

Brown Mackie College — Hopkinsville is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools( ACICS) to award associate’s degrees and diplomas. ACICS is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Its accreditation of degree-granting institutions also is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Brown Mackie College - Hopkinsville is licensed by the Kentucky State Board for Proprietary Education.
