1792 (bourbon)

1792 (bourbon)

1792 "Ridgemont Reserve" is a bourbon produced by the Barton Brands distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is part of a line of small-batch bourbons tapping into the high-end liquor market.

It is handcrafted and aged for 8 years. It is 93.7 proof (46.85% content of alcohol). The name of the bourbon celebrates the year Kentucky became a state. "1792" is the Official Toasting Bourbon of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. This bourbon is positioned as a super-premium one [ [http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_pwwi/is_200409/ai_n8557982 Adam's Liquor Handbook, 2004] ] , and the pricing policy makes it a competitor to Knob Creek or Woodford Reserve. Super Premium might be a bit of a stretch considering the Pappy van Winkle brand and their pricing structure. This reflects the general trend in bourbon production, resulting from competition with single malt whisky [ [http://www.jdjungle.com/main.cfm?inc=inc_article.cfm&chid=6&schid=0&WT=60&artid=51809&template=5 JDJ jungle, "Boutique Bourbons"] ] , which makes small batch bourbons a big business [ [http://www.winerx.com/main.asp?request=ARTICLES&article=9 "Bourbon: Small Batch… is Big Business" by Gregg Glaser, "Winerx"] ] .
