Alfred Todd (politician)

Alfred John Kennett Todd (13 April 1890 – 27 August 1970) was a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. [ [http://www.angeltowns.com/town/peerage/bcommons2.htm Historical list of MPs: B, part 2] ]

He was elected at the 1929 general election as Member of Parliament (MP) for Berwick-upon-Tweed. Sitting as an "Independent Conservative" for part of the 1931-35 parliament, he held the seat until his narrow defeat at the 1935 general election by the Liberal candidate Sir Hugh Seely. His grandson Mark Todd [ [http://www.marktodd.org.uk/biography Mark Todd's website] ] is a Labour Party politician, elected in 1997 as MP for South Derbyshire.
