Mamenori

Mamenori (まめのり^?), or soybean paper, also referred to as mame-nori-san (まめのりさん^?), are thin wrappers used as a substitute for nori, and may be used as a spring roll wrapper or as a dessert wrap.

There are many non-Japanese who dislike the sea-like smell of nori, even though sushi is now popular outside Japan. Thus, Mamenori is used in foreign sushi shops instead of regular nori. The faint taste of soybeans remains on the tongue when Mamenori is eaten, and it melts in the mouth. Especially in the United States, the image "Soybeans = health food" is well-established, so Mamenori is a good food for health-conscious consumers.
