Teenie Beanies

Teenie Beanies

The Teenie Beanies were miniature Beanie Babies that were offered in various McDonald's promotions between 1997 and 2000, and in 2004. The 1997-2000 Teenie Beanies all resembled regular Beanie Babies; the 2004 series did not.

The Teenie Beanies were most in demand from McDonald's in the first year they were offered, and declined in popularity every year thereafter, even though more were produced each time.

During the height of their popularity, Teenie Beanies were the cause of a lot of fights at various McDonald's locations, resulting in calls to police, criminal charges, and injuries [ [http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=MWSB&p_theme=mwsb&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EB82BA40C6ED9A3&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM 2 women at restaurant fight] ] . These included a Miami area McDonalds employee, who was charged with the theft of the toys [ [http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=MH&s_site=miami&p_multi=MH&p_theme=realcities&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EB4DA5E062B1E4C&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM STOLEN BEANIE BABIES RECOVERED] ] . Though they were sold for around $2 each along with a Happy Meal, they were often resold in 1997 and 1998 for much higher prices on the secondary market after the promotion.

Some McDonalds locations exhausted their supplies of Teenie Beanies before the promotion was over [ [http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=MWSB&p_theme=mwsb&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EB82A9F4A747F05&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM McDonald's putting Beanie Babies to rest] ] .
