Massimo Volta (born 14 May 1987) is an Italian football player. He currently plays for Sampdoria.

Career

Volta started his career with minor league club Carpenedolo. In summer 2007 he was signed by Sampdoria and immediately loaned back to Foligno for the new season. In summer 2008 Parma acquired 50% of his transfer rights, as part of the bid that brought Daniele Dessena to the Genoese club, and successively loaned out to Serie B outfit Vicenza. In August 2009 Parma sent him out on loan again, this time to Serie B newcomers Cesena,[1] where he was one of the main protagonists of the club's rise into the top flight.

On June 2010 Sampdoria and Parma agreed to renew the co-ownership agreement, with Volta joining the Blucerchiati for the new season. He made his debut with Sampdoria in the Third Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League against Werder Bremen. That season he rotated with Stefano Lucchini as the centre-back, which Volta played 6 out of 6 group stage matches of 2010–11 UEFA Europa League, and Lucchini mainly for domestic league. The other centre-back was Daniele Gastaldello.
