P. J. Louis

P.J. Louis is an American telecommunications technologist and author. He is a noted telecommunications industry expert and has authored eleven books on various telecom technology and industry topics. During the early 2000s telecom/Internet economic meltdown, he served as an industry advisor and restructuring expert for a Big 4 accounting firm. He has participated in the restructuring of several telecommunications corporations from 2001 through to Present.

Career

Based on his books, articles, and public comments, P.J. Louis seems to hold views that are contrary to the popular investment analyst view. Louis seems to believe that telecom and infocom possess a social responsibility element. He is a supporter of increasing broadband deployments in rural and underserved markets. Based on pieces he has written, he has opinions about social networking, Google, YouTube, and digital rights management.

Louis has been blogging on the Gerson Lehrman Group financial site. He has been a vocal proponent for CEO Dan Hesse's restructuring of Sprint. He has posted a large number of articles regarding corporate restructuring during this recession. In 2009 Louis was quoted in Wireless Week supporting CEO Hesse's work. In 2009 he was quoted again in Wireless Week commenting on the Palm Pre.

He was quoted in the Kansas City Star where he implied the current recession offered Sprint an opportunity to provide service to those who have lost their jobs and hence their corporate cell phones. Louis believes the sector is an opportunity for Sprint. He also noted that customer satisfaction is a key to success.

He is also an advisor to a company called Kindle Innovations; which appears to be operating a new type of social networking site/company called TabUp. He has recently opined on the next step of social networking, which is called social collaboration. TabUp is a social collaboration startup of Kindle Innovations. Louis is an owner of BitInsight. BitInsight is a management consulting firm that leverages prediction markets decision software tools to assist client management teams in making better decisions. Unlike his principal consulting firm, PJ Louis LLC, BitInsight is not focused on companies in need of turnaround services or companies in distress. BitInsight is focused on assisting companies in achieving incremenal growth in revenue.

His (principal) consulting company is called PJ Louis LLC. The firm is a consultancy that provides business & operational advisory services to investors and to underperforming/distressed telecommunications, media and technology companies. The firm's services includes technology expert witness support and non-testifying expert consultation services.

Louis recently co-authored an article on femtocells in Wireless Week. He and his co-author, Bill Mayberry (retired AT&T Mobilty executive), took a radical position on the need for femtocells and their use. The Wireless Week article is entitled "Femtocell - The Future of Wireless".

P.J. Louis is a member of the Board of Directors of a Grace Church Community Center, Inc. (GCCC), a non-sectarian, 501(c)(3) social services organization that assists Westchester County’s neediest and most at-risk residents, particularly those who are under-served by existing resources. GCCC was incorporated in 1979 and is one of the largest social services agencies in Westchester County. See Grace Church Community Center
