A recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant awarded by the Shoshana Foundation [cite news | title=Shoshana Foundation | url=http://shoshanafoundation.org/423.html?*session*id*key*=*session*id*val*] and the Dr. Marcia Robbins-Wilf Award, presented by New York City Opera to an artist who demonstrates outstanding dramatic ability, he has been a member of both l'Opéra National de Paris young artists' Program and the San Francisco Opera young artist program. Burdette received his Masters in Vocal Performance at the Juilliard School, two Bachelor of Arts degrees (B.A. in College Scholars and a B.A. in Music with a minor in history) from the University of Tennessee, and spent a year studying at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. He was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee.
