Four Poofs and a Piano

Four Poofs and a Piano are a covers band formed in 2000. Since the show's inception in 2001 they have been the house band on the BBC One chat show "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross". They are (as the name suggests) gay men who sing to piano accompaniment.

The band performed their first gig at the Groucho Club.

They have also appeared at many corporate events, as well as Pride events, festivals including Edinburgh, Leicester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, the Brighton Festival Fringe and at Glastonbury Festival (2005/2007).

In 2008, the band will appear in many venues, including at the Perth Festival and Glastonbury Festival.In May 2008, the band featured as the house band on "Britain's Got More Talent".

On 7th October 2008, the band featured on "The Alan Titchmarsh Show" an ITV chat show, promoting their upcoming tour.

"Friday Night with Jonathan Ross"

Ross introduces the band each Friday night with an innuendo-laden joke directed at homosexuality or the supposed sex lives of gay men, while the watching TV audience see how the band reacts to the joke's punch lineFact|date=July 2008. As each guest makes the short journey backstage from the green room to the studio, the band plays a cover version of a song related to the guest or their field of work. Their camp performance is generally highly exaggerated in its stereotypical cabaret manner, much to the delight of guests and audiences alike.

Each week a guest is singled out for special attention by the band who wear specially printed t-shirts featuring the guest's face. This is usually a privilege bestowed upon the guest most deemed a cult figure or gay icon.
