Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8

Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8

Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8, apolipoprotein e receptor, also known as LRP8, is a human gene.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: LRP8 low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8, apolipoprotein e receptor| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=7804| accessdate = ]

Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8, or LRP8 (also Apolipoprotein E Receptor 2; ApoER2) is a member of the LDL receptor family that plays a role in endocytosis and signal transduction. Together with VLDLR it is able to bind reelin, leading to the phosphorylation of DAB1, which binds on its cytosolic tail.

PBB_Summary
section_title =
summary_text = This gene encodes an apolipoprotein E receptor, a member of the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family. Apolipoprotein E is a small lipophilic plasma protein and a component of lipoproteins such as chylomicron remnants, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), and high density lipoprotein (HDL). The apolipoprotein E receptor is involved in cellular recognition and internalization of these lipoproteins. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms for this gene.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: LRP8 low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 8, apolipoprotein e receptor| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=7804| accessdate = ]
