Jedediah Huntington (
4 August 1743 –25 September 1818 ) was an American general in theContinental Army during theAmerican Revolutionary War .He was born in Norwich,
Connecticut , the son of Jabez Huntington (1719-86). He graduated at Harvard in 1763, joined the American army at Cambridge, became a brigadier general in 1777, and took part in many important engagements until the close of the war, when he was brevettedmajor general in 1783. He was one of the organizers of theSociety of the Cincinnati . He became collector of the port of New London in 1789 and held the office 26 years.
