Gangdong-gu (literally "district east of the river") is one of the 25 "gu" which make up the city of Seoul, South Korea. It is located on the east side of the city.

Jungbu(literally "Central Part") Express Motorway is started and passing through Sangil-dong, where located in the east of this district. And In Amsa-dong, there is the Pre-historic heritage where are about six thousands years ago. In this heritage, there are many kinds of dishes and houses. Dishes which had been found and were made of ceramic are circular and smoothly sharpen like a corn.

The mayor of this district is Haesik LEE(이해식), who has been elected as the mayor for short-term by 2010, since June 2008
