The Shire of Peppermint Grove is a small Local Government Area in western metropolitan Perth, the capital of Western Australia, between Mosman Park and Claremont and lies about 12 km southwest of Perth's central business district. The Shire of Peppermint Grove, at convert|1.1|km2|sqmi|2, is the smallest local government area in Australia.
History
The Peppermint Grove Road Board was gazetted in 1895 and on 1 July 1961, became a Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act. [WA Electoral Commission, "Municipality Boundary Amendments Register" (release 2.0), 31 May 2003.]
