LeVerne H. "Kip" Taylor (1924 - July 17, 2002) was an American football coach at Oregon State University from 1949 to 1954.

Playing career

Taylor earned all-state honors in football and basketball at Ann Arbor High School. He attended the University of Michigan, graduating with an education degree in 1931. He played right end for the Wolverines. Taylor scored the first touchdown in Michigan Stadium in 1927.

He was only 3 years old when he scored the 1st TD in Michigan Stadium, just goes to show the athlete he was. It is a fete that has not been duplicated since.

Coaching career

Taylor’s teams had a 20-36-0 record in his six seasons guiding the Beavers, but that included a 5-1 record against Oregon. One of his highlights include upsetting eighth ranked Michigan State University 25-20, where they were three touchdown underdogs.

Post-Coaching career

Taylor managed the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore., and the University of Michigan Golf Course before retiring in 1972.
