"Rising Star" is an episode from the fourth season of the science-fiction television series "Babylon 5".

Marcus reaches Babylon 5 and uses the Alien Healing Device to save Ivanova's life and dies in the process. Delenn launches the Interstellar Alliance; Sheridan is forced to resign from EarthForce to receive amnesty for himself and the rest of his staff. The Alliance is announced in a press conference at Earthgov's headquarters in Geneva, with a dramatic flyover by the entire White Star fleet. In later negotiations with Earth concerning its membership in the Interstellar Alliance, it is revealed that Sheridan has been elected as its first President.

Susan Ivanova is offered the command of a Warlock class destroyer. Garibaldi wins back his girlfriend Lise Hampton-Edgars. Delenn and Sheridan get married on a White Star and return to Babylon 5. G'Kar uses his artificial eye to view the proceedings in Sheridan's and Delenn's bedroom.

Arc significance

* Sheridan has been forced to resign from EarthForce.
* Sheridan is reunited with his father.
* The Interstellar Alliance is formed, with Sheridan as its President, and Earth agrees to join this new alliance in exchange for limited access to Minbari and Vorlon technology. The Alliance intends to use the Rangers, whose primary mission against the Shadows is now expired, as the arbiters and peacekeepers of the Interstellar Alliance. (This role seems similar to the role of the Jedi in the Galactic Republic in Star Wars Episodes and .)
* Londo Mollari learns that the Regent of the Centauri Republic is dying, and that he will be named the next Emperor when that happens.
* Marcus used the Alien Healing Device to save Ivanova, sacrificing his own life in the process. This is portended by a conversation Ivaniva has with the first one known as Lorien earlier in the season, in which he discusses the pains of immortality and how "only love is eternal", and that she should embrace that. Cole's dying words "I love you" echo this sentiment.
* As Sheridan's last act as an Earth Force officer, Ivanova is promoted to Captain, and she leaves the station. She is given command of a new "Warlock"-class vessel.
