Japanese destroyer Maikaze

"Maikaze" , and the auxiliary cruiser "Akagi Maru" were sunk by gunfire from the cruisers USS|Minneapolis|CA-36|6 and USS|New Orleans|CA-32|6 40 miles (75 km) northwest of Truk (coord|07|45|N|151|20|E). The ship went down with loss of all hands.
