Timothy Tymkovich

Timothy M. Tymkovich (born November 2, 1956 in Denver, Colorado) is a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

A native Coloradan, Tymkovich received a B.A. from Colorado College and his J.D. from University of Colorado College of Law. After law school, he clerked for Colorado Chief Justice William Erickson from 1982-1983. Tymkovich was Solicitor General for Colorado from 1991-1996. He was in private practice until his appointment to the Tenth Circuit.

President George W. Bush nominated Tymkovich to the seat on the Tenth Circuit on January 7, 2003. President Clinton previously had nominated Christine Arguello for the seat, but she never received a hearing or a vote from the U.S. Senate. Tymkovich was confirmed swiftly by the United States Senate in a [http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=1&vote=00113 58-41 vote] less than two months later on April 1, 2003. Tymkovich replaced Judge John Carbone Porfilio, who took Senior status.
