Volsk (Russian: Вольск) is a town in Saratov Oblast, Russia, located 147 kilometers (91 mi) to the northeast from Saratov, on the right bank of the Volga River, opposite the mouth of the Bolshoy Irgiz, the Volga tributary. Population: 66,520 (2010 Census preliminary results);^[1] 71,124 (2002 Census);^[2] 65,683 (1989 Census).^[5]

It was founded in 1699 as the sloboda of Malykovka (Малыковка) and was granted town status and renamed Volgsk (Волгск) in 1780. In the 19th century, the name gradually changed to more pronounceable "Volsk".

After the October Revolution of 1917, Volsk became a major center of cement production.
