"Friday I'm in Love" is the second single taken from the album "Wish" (1992) from The Cure. It is among the band's most well-known songs. The single was a #6 hit in the UK and reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is the band's last American Top 40 hit to date. It also hit #1 on the US Modern Rock chart.

History

"Friday I'm in Love" was nominated for a Grammy Award and won the best Music Video from MTV. The song was written to be a slower number than its upbeat final rendition. Interestingly, while the track was recorded in D major, the tape speed in the mastering process was slightly askew, resulting in the commercially released version sounding halfway between D major and E-flat major, half a semitone higher.
