Adrian Webster (born 10 October 1980 in Hastings) is a New Zealand football (soccer) player who currently plays for Kuopion Palloseura in Finland as a central midfielder.

Biography

Playing career

Webster's family moved to Australia when he was a toddler and he was brought up in Australia. However, he made his international debut for New Zealand, against Australia in London. In 2006 he returned to New Zealand for the first time since his childhood, for the two match series against Malaysia. He has made a total of five A-international appearances for the All Whites.cite web|url=http://www.ultimatenzsoccer.com/NZRepSoccer/id1708.htm|title=A-International Appearances - Overall|author=|publisher=The Ultimate New Zealand Soccer Website|date=|accessdate=2008-07-25]

Injuries have been a source of problems for Webster. In 1995, while on trial at Newcastle United, he broke his ankle and was forced to return to Australia where he finished school.

Between 1996 and 2000 he was a constant member of the Charlton Athletic reserve team, but failed to make the first squad. He then moved to Colchester United for a six-month spell, but again was forced to return to Australia when his club suffered a financial crisis and had to release him. While in Australia, he played for St George in Sydney and in the last match of the season he snapped a medial ligaments in his knee.

However, David Hodgson, Darlington's manager, saw potential in Webster and decided to give him an opportunity to regain fitness at his club which eventually led to Webster playing in the first team after two seasons at Maidstone United.cite web|url=http://www.ozfootball.net/ark/Players/W/WE.html|title=Australian Player Database|author=|publisher=OzFootball|date=|accessdate=2008-10-11]

Adrian was released at the end of the 2006 English league two season and returned to Australia where he was signed by A-League club Perth Glory where he played every game in a failed campaign to make the final series. The lowlight of this campaign was when he came to blows with his captain at Glory, Jamie Harnwell, on the pitch after a home match. After leaving Perth Glory Webster returned to England and has had trials with Brighton and Burton. He then spent a 2 month Spell at Workington but moved to league rivals Blyth Spartans at the start of October 2007.
