Slaviša Jokanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Славиша Јокановић), (born 16 August, 1968 in Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a former Serbian professional footballer, who played in the 1990s and early 2000s, as a physical, not devoid of skill, central midfielder. He is the current coach of FK Partizan.

Club career

Jokanović started playing at FK Novi Sad and he later moved to Vojvodina Novi Sad which won the Yugoslavian national league in 1988-89. In 1990 Jokanovic joined Belgrade side FK Partizan. With them, he won the Yugoslav Cup in 1991-92 and the league the season after.

After his success in Partizan he joined Real Oviedo. Following his move from Asturias in 1995, Jokanovic was an integral part of CD Tenerife's rise in "La Liga".

Jokanović's career path brought him to the English Premiership in October 2000, where he joined Chelsea F.C. for £1.7m from the then Spanish champions Deportivo de La Coruña. He hung up his boots in "Segunda División" side Ciudad de Murcia, playing just three months.

International career

Jokanović represented FR Yugoslavia 64 times during an 11-year span, and made its final squads for 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000, where he was sent off against Spain.

Management career

Married with three children, Jokanović was living in Madrid when he joined, in September 2007, the technical staff of third division team Club Atlético de Pinto. However, three months later, he became the head coach of Partizan, replacing Miroslav Djukic, who left to take the reins of the national side.

In May 2008, under Jokanović's management, Partizan won the double (league and cup).
