Abdul Rashid, (Sc.D.), (born:1954) is a Pakistani Nuclear and Bioscientist, currently a member of the Biosciences division of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC). He was previously Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center, from 2006 — 2008.[1] He has also been a member of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, where he administered agricultural and biotechnology research and development at four establishments and managed 14 Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Cancer Hospitals.

Academic

He received his PhD in Agronomy and Soil Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1986, as a recipient of an East West Center Scholarship. His specialty is in soil fertility, plant nutrition and fertilizer use, with emphasis on micronutrient nutrition of crop plants. He has published extensively in local and international journals, and is an Editorial Board Member, European Journal of Agronomy (Elsevier) and Communications in Soil Science & Plant Analysis (Taylor & Francis)and TheScienceWorldJOURNAL.Currently, he is Editor-in-Chief at the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Islamabad.

Awards

He is affiliated with the Soil Science Society of America, American Society of Agronomy, Indian Society of Soil Science, and the Soil Science Society of Pakistan, of which he is the Past-President and a Fellow. He has earned the Dr Norman Borlaug Award, and Fellowship of the Indian Society of Soil Science.
