The Council on the Ageing (NSW), established in 1956, is a peak body providing leadership in social policy and community information and education for all older persons in New South Wales and Australia.

COTA NSW is known as the voice of seniors over 50.[1] They aim to foster a society where seniors are respected, consulted, included, represented and heard.

Core Functions

COTA's core functions include:

  1. Policy development, representation and advocacy
  2. Brokering, referring, collaborating, coordinating, and networking among seniors organisations and services to seniors
  3. Informing and educating older persons and all those concerned with their welfare.

COTA NSW works with government, business, the media and the wider community to represent the issues and concerns of consumers.

COTA Over 50's

COTA NSW is a member of COTA Over 50s which consists of eight State and Territory-based entities - Councils on the Ageing in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia, ACT, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
