Cooking Mama: World Kitchen, (released in Japan as Cooking Mama 2: Seriously! Mama is Very Busy! クッキングママ2 たいへん!!ママはおおいそがし! Cooking Mama 2: Taihen! Mama wa Ooisogashi! ) is the fourth game in the Cooking Mama series developed by Cooking Mama Limited. However, The publishers differ; The game was published by "Taito" for Japan, While the game was published by "Majesco" for North America and the PAL Version of the game was published by 505 Games. The game was released in North America on November 18, 2008, In Japan on December 11, 2008 and in Europe and February 6, 2009.

Several previews have been shown at E3 2008 including new characters, over 50 recipes, and new controls.

  • Cooking Contest modes:
    • Co-Op Challenge: 2-player cooperative play
    • Solo Challenge: play with an in-game friend
    • Take Mama On: play against Mama
  • New recipes including parfaits, chocolate chip cookies, fruit jelly, fudge, roast beef, and chirashi-zushi.
  • Comedic minigames in place of failing such as Mama racing to catch a hamburger patty before her dog, Max, eats it.
  • The ability to create a character.

Gameplay

The goal of the game is to complete a meal of the player's choice. The player cooks in steps, for example, if making sushi, the player will cut the fish in one step, and do the rice in another. Every time a meal is finished, other meals are unlocked, and so are other characters, family and friends.

Friends

  • David - David is available at the start of the game. He has blond hair and wears a red-and-white striped shirt with red glasses, and his eyes are blue. Common phrases include: "You're the best!", "Awesome!", "You can do it!", and "Mmm... I give it 3 stars!"
  • Sakura - Sakura is available at the start of the game. Her name is Japanese for "cherry blossom." She has black hair and brown eyes and wears a white and red skirt. Common phrases include: "Wow, amazing!", "Keep it up!", and "I'm so full! That was delicious!"
  • Clara - Clara has blue and white sunglasses on top of her head. She has grayish hair and green eyes and wears a white dress and red scarf. She has a French accent. Common phrases include: "Fabulous!", "Wonderful!", "That was delicious!", "Simply amazing!", and "What did you expect?"
  • Ivan - Ivan has blond hair and blue eyes and wears a blue and tan coat with tan boots. He also has a tan tuque and a toothy grin. Common phrases include: "Mmm...I'm hungry!", "I'm starving!", "Make it good!", "Oh, man... the taste has blown me away!", and "This is a taste explosion! Can I have seconds?"
  • Kate - Kate has a blond ponytail with a large red bow and blue eyes. She wears a white shirt with red suspenders, a tan belt, blue jeans and white boots. Common phrases include: "Woo-hoo!", "What talent!", "Keep going!", "Mmm... that was tasty!", and "Heh-heh... wish I could have tried some!"
  • Maylee - Maylee has black pigtails with yellow ox horns. She wears a red gown with yellow sleeves and yellow slippers. Common phrases include: "You're unstoppable!", "Stupendous!", "You're good at this!", "Mmm. That was quite a treat!", and "Indescribable! Absolute perfection!"
  • Albert - Albert has gray hair and brown eyes and wears a black tuxedo and a red bow tie. He has a British accent. Common phrases include: "I'm serious! Best in the universe!", "I mean it! Nothing in the world tops this!", "Fantastic!", "Hang in there!", "Uh-huh!", "You've got the moves!", and "That's how it's done!"
  • Marco - Marco has red hair and brown eyes. He wears a blue T-shirt. Common phrases include: "You're good!", "Take that!", "That's the way!", and "Amazing!"

Reception

The game has better reviews than its predecessor, mostly for the improvement in controls.[1] It received a "decent" 7/10 from IGN.
