Cornelius 'Con' Murphy (born 30 January 1966) is an Irish sports presenter, working primarily on Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) radio and television.

He presents Monday Night Soccer on RTÉ Two, the League of Ireland highlights show which also includes highlights of Republic of Ireland soccer matches. He also co-presented Crimecall with Anne Cassin. On radio, he co-presents Sunday Sport on RTÉ Radio 1, with Jacqui Hurley.

Career

Murphy is one of the main sports presenters with RTÉ.

He was one of the presenters on RTÉ's coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

He has presented football, golf, rugby, hockey, basketball, athletics, and horse racing on RTÉ Television.

Murphy has anchored RTÉ radio's coverage of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and reported from the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea, and was part of RTÉ Radio's award-winning commentary team from the 2006 Ryder Cup at the K Club.

He presented the nightly highlights programme on RTÉ Sport's coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.[1][2]

Murphy presented RTÉ's Crimecall along with Anne Cassin for six years until mid-2011.

An avid poker fan, Murphy qualified to play in the Paddy Power Irish Open a couple of years ago[when?] but had to forego the opportunity because of work commitments. Having recently visited the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, he is planning his assault on the main event for 2012.
