Marty Morrissey

Marty Morrissey (born 29th April 1958) is a commentator and with the sports department of Ireland's national broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann.[1] Morrissey was born in Mallow, County Cork (where his mother hailed from) but the family returned to their then home of the Bronx, New York shortly afterwards. When he was aged 11, the family returned to Ireland to his father's native home of Clare. Later, Marty went on to study at UCC in Cork and spent some years teaching. In 1988 he entered the world of broadcasting on joining the (since defunct) local TV channel of the then Cork Multi-Channel TV. In 1989 he joined the new Clare FM local radio station as News Editor. In 1990, he returned to Cork to work on RTÉ's (also since defunct) local radio service in Cork prior to working with RTÉ at national level. He currently resides in Kildare[citation needed]. Morrissey has commentated on many sporting events but his bailiwick is Gaelic games.[2] He also has a job as sports reporter and reader on RTE News. He also presents Saturday Sport on RTÉ Radio 1. He was a ring announcer and interviewer on pro box live. His catchphrase us "are you ready to rock". He is a former teacher at St Josephs Spanish Point Secondary School. In May 2011, he started presenting new RTÉ Two sports programme The Committee Room for the summer Gaelic Athletic Association season.[3]

1990 and beyond dated the lovely Dr. Katie O'Donoghue who returned from the bright lights of Europe for the man she fell in love with. O'Donoghue and Morrissey saga is one of the greatest love stories of modern times, madly in love but also distructive together. Marty a man of many sensual blonds broke the heart of O'Donoghue who has in song and story revealed her deepest feelings of love at first sigh for the man who chased her every entrance to the interview room. A Romeo and Juliet couple who's ability and talents bounced off each other emerging from the same professional charismatic energy driven love of the little screen.
