Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate LLC is Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC’s local operating company in Florida. The company is a real estate brokerage in Florida [1] and is based in Sarasota, Florida. Its parent company is NRT, the nation’s largest real estate brokerage.[2] The company is a subsidiary of Realogy, a privately owned company based in Parsippany, New Jersey, U.S., which also owns Century 21 and several other real estate brands.

The Florida-based company has 83 offices located in communities statewide. Over 4,500 licensed Realtors® serve buyers and sellers in the Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa Bay, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples markets.

Company History

1906 – Colbert Coldwell started the company after witnessing the unscrupulous real estate transactions that followed the devastating San Francisco earthquake.

1913 – Arthur Banker joined the firm.

1980 – The company had acquired a national referral service, a major corporate relocation management company and Previews, Inc. (now the Previews International® program).

1981 – Coldwell Banker was acquired as a member of the Sears Financial Network, launching Coldwell Banker Residential Affiliates for the franchising of high quality residential brokerages.

1990 –Coldwell Banker had offices in all 50 states, plus Canada and Puerto Rico. The sale of the Coldwell Banker Commercial Group by Sears strengthened the focus on residential real estate.

1993 – The Freemont Group purchased Coldwell Banker from Sears.

1996 – HFS, Inc. purchased Coldwell Banker, which in turn became the Cendant Corporation. Coldwell Banker regained the right to sell commercial real estate.

2002 – Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate became Florida’s largest real estate company when parent company NRT LLC accomplished one of the largest mergers in real estate history in 2002. The company also acquired several Florida real estate brokerages, including Arvida Realty Services, Coldwell Banker McFadden and Sprowls, Coldwell Banker Kent Karlock Realty, John Naumann & Associates, Welcome Center and Wimbish-Riteway Realty.

2006 – Coldwell Banker became the first national real estate brand to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

2011 – NRT, Coldwell Banker Florida’s parent company, is ranked the top U.S. brokerage in both closed volume and total units for the 14th consecutive year in RISMedia Power Broker, REALTOR® Magazine and REAL Trends 500 rankings.
