The Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse is a small sized chromate fish that is a brilliant addition, to any ornamental aquarium. The Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse is available in various colours such as pink, red and purple. Colour of the fish varies, with the intensity of light. Male Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse has an attractive dark yellow and red coloured body with distinct blue, brown or white bands that adds to its beauty. Dorsal fins of an adult Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse have an appealing bright yellow colour. Female fish has burgundy colour and is less attractive than its male counterparts. Moreover, the coloured stripes are not conspicuous in a female Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse. Male wrasse displays its radiant coloured body with more intensity during courting to attract the female fish. This is a marine oviparous fish.

The Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse is a medium maintenance, hardy fish, which is absolutely reef compatible. An ideal tank set-up is fish only or reef aquarium with sand bed. When the Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse gets intimidated, it buries itself below the sand substrate or algae provided in the tank. Also while sleeping, this behavior is exhibited. The tank has to be provided with lot of live rock for the fish to hide. It is observed that this fish jumps out of the tank while mating or when spooked. Care has to be taken to cover the tank properly. The Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse has a longer life span. So it is a valuable addition to the pet tank.

This is a peace loving community fish and hence can be kept in small groups. But the Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse fish has to be introduced to the tank simultaneously, to avoid any territorial dispute. It is advisable to have single male fish with two or three female Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse fish in an aquarium. This fish prefers to have semi-aggressive tank mates.
