The 96th Air Refueling Squadron (96 ARS) was most recently part of the 92d Air Refueling Wing at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. It operated the KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft conducting aerial refueling missions.

Mission

History

The squadron flew antisubmarine patrols from, December 1941–August 1942 and December 1942–February 1943. It then went on to fly combat sorties in the Central Pacific from, 19 January23 September 1944 and the Western Pacific from, 9 July12 August 1945. The 96th flew air refueling to meet global commitments from, July 1954–October 1960, December 1960–June 1965, and April 1994-March 2005.
