James E. Taylor High School, also known as Katy Taylor High School, is a public high school in Harris County, Texas, near the city of Katy. The school, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Katy Independent School District; it opened in 1979 and is rivals with Katy High School. Taylor High School is a Blue Ribbon School and has ranked among the best in graduation rates, SAT scores, college admittance, and AP scores in the nation. In 2008, the school was ranked as the 788th 'Best High School in the Nation' by Newsweek Magazine.

Namesake

Taylor High School is named after "Jimmy" Taylor, the former National FFA Organization advisor and agricultural teacher at Katy High School, who also served as the superintendent of Katy schools before retirement.
