HighMax, is a fictional comic book series. The main hero of the series is Cody Lyons. He first appeared in "HighMax" #01 (September 2006). HighMax was created by Bryan Alvarado. "HighMax" is one of the few comic book series to feature a gay main hero and a gay relationship between it's main plots.

eason One

Cody Lyons and Serenity Kraven are known throughout Monstertropolis as The Hunters because they hunt demons, warlocks and everything that goes bump in the night. One night on patrol, Cody and Serenity meet Nathan, a young man running away from a group of demons. The demons introduced themselves as The Infernal Council. Cody, Serenity and Nathan decide to join forces and attack them. They were no match for The Infernal Council, then they rapidly disappear. Nathan confesses that he has stolen information from them about a certain young woman, who will bring the end of the world.

Now a team, Cody, Serenity and Nathan patrol everywhere, every night, looking for trouble to stop. Cody meets Travis. A young man who instantly gets attracted to Cody. Serenity begins to wonder if Cody is going to tell Nathan about being gay, which he simply ignores. Serenity deals with her boyfriend and his recent decision to get married. Serenity thinks about her answer while the group battle evil and The Infernal Council together. Finally Serenity decides to get married and everybody is invited. Cody and Travis continue to attract each other and finally decide to become a couple. Nathan walks in on them kissing and discovers that Cody is gay.

Nathan deals with his own homophobic feelings while Serenity's life falls apart when she discovers that her husband, Sean, is a spy sent by The Infernal Council in order to see what they knew about the young woman who will destroy the world. Time passes and Nathan finally comes to terms with Cody being gay. Cody and Travis continue their relationship while Serenity deals with her depression. Sean returns to ask for forgiveness, but Serenity initially refuses to see him. After a while, Serenity finally sees Sean and forgives him, thus ending her depression.

The Infernal Council plan their final attack. They trap the group and Travis in a dream realm. While they destroy the world, Cody, Serenity, Nathan and Travis try to find a way out of the dream realm. Once finding an exit, Nathan and Serenity get out first and then Cody finds another young man trapped within the dream realm. Cody finds his own long lost twin brother and tries to help him escape. After the portal finally closes, Travis and Cody finally reach the human world. Travis tries to kiss Cody but Cody attacks him with a powerful aftershock blast. Cody then reveals himself to be Bryan, Cody's twin brother. Nathan and Serenity combine their powers to finally defeat The Infernal Council. They discover that Bryan has disappeared and Travis is left unconcious, bleeding.

eason Two

Bryan returns to Monstertropolis posing as Cody and gains his friend's trust. Bryan begins to live Cody's life as he continues to patrol the city at night and visit Travis at the hospital to keep up appearances. Serenity begins to feel awkward as her powers begin to rapidly grow after the Infernal Council destruction. Serenity learns of the existence of Naveah, a powerful Dark Angel. She begins to research about it, while Nathan begins to have doubts about "Cody". Cody manages a way to get into Travis' dream realm and is able to have one final talk with his lover. Meanwhile in the real world, Travis tries to wake up, but Bryan decides that he can't keep up pretences anymore, and decides to kill him. Nathan manages to walk in on Nathan holding a pillow on top of Travis' face and finally figures out that he is not the real Cody. Cody finally manages to escape the dream realm by opening an ancient gate, which in turn, releases a powerful Ancient Beast. Cody manages to find Bryan and they have a final battle, where Bryan ends up running away. Cody reunites with Travis, who still in a coma.

A few days later, Travis dies. Cody begins to wonder if he will ever find love and begins to slowly fall into depression. The group attend Travis' funeral where Cody finally gives his final words to his lover. Serenity's power grow out of control. Naveah gets control of Serenity's body and begins to fight a powerful Ancient Beast who escaped when Cody returned. Naveah sends the Ancient Beast back to his slumber while Serenity finally loses all inhibitions.

Serenity begins a radical change where even her morality becomes reckless. Nathan and Cody deal with Serenity's new look and attitude while The Ultimate Council begin to keep tabs on them. Serenity continues to do reckless things around her friends that Cody gets fed up with it and has a fight with his best friend. Ultimately, The Ultimate Council summons the group to hear their final judgment. Serenity learns that thanks to Naveah's control she is destined to die sometime soon.

After a while, The Ancient Beast reawakens stronger than ever and begins to open hell upon Monstertropolis. The group combines thier forces to battle the beast but are unsuccessful. Serenity decides that only Naveah can stop the beast, so she loses control over her own body and soul and transforms into Naveah. The beast and Naveah battle each other fiercely until Naveah decides that one final explotion should kill him off. Cody tries to talk her out of it but he soon realizes that Serenity is not there anymore. Nathan manages to get Cody out of way as Naveah decides to release her energy on The Ancient Beast. After a big explotion, wounded Cody and Nathan find Serenity's body, and realize that The Ultimate Council kept their promise.

eason Three

Cody and Nathan mourn over Serenity's death, while a new young woman introduces herself. Aurellis introduces herself as a prophet of The Ultimate Council, as they find it appropriate to judge Cody by using somebody else. Cody learns that he is also destined to die, as his own life force is the very essense of the second Dark Angel, Hellion. Cody begins a new life of sex, drugs, and recklessness. Nathan begins to coach Cody, as he saw how Serenity destroyed her morals in her final months.

Nathan and Aurellis begin a relationship, as soon as Cody begins to realize there's no future for him. Cody gets an offer for a normal life by an Angel Of Destiny but refuses it when he knows he's still gonna die at some point. Nathan and Aurellis continue with their relationship while Cody spins out of control.

After Aurellis decides to quit being a prophet for The Ultimate Council, they decide to bring Naveah back from the death in order to set her against the group. Nathan and Aurellis begin to deal with the ultimate Dark Angel while Cody begins to notice that he might as well commit suicide. Right when he was about to jump out of a building, Cody gets rescued by Tyler, a gorgeous young man with a pure soul. Cody sees that this stranger wants to help him and ends up crying on him about everything that he's been through over the past two years. Cody and Tyler end up sleeping together that same night and in the next morning, Tyler convinces Cody that the world needs a hero, and that his friends need him. Cody thanks Tyler, knowing that he found love in the form of that young gorgeous man. Cody finally returns to normal and joins Aurellis and Nathan in their battle against Naveah. Naveah traps the group in her own dimension, which she is told is heaven. Once realizing that The Ultimate Council lied to her, Naveah decides to focus her attention on destroying them, instead of the group. Cody catches a glimpse of Serenity as Naveah finally is able to rest in peace. One of the Ultimate Council members decides to capture the group in their own dimension and sets off a 30-minute bomb in the castle as he dies. The group decides to escape through the tunnels and finally reach the exit 5 seconds before the explotions takes place.

Aurellis and Nathan decide to spend the night together, while Cody decides to leave Monstertropolis for a few days. On his way out of town, a motorcycle hits him really hard, sending him flying through some woods. Once realizing who is standing on top of him, Cody begins to tell Bryan that he will suffer the same faith, as nobody evil ever survives the hands of time.
