Weston Longville

Weston Longville

Weston Longville is a rural village (population 303ref|population) situated in Norfolk, England, approximately 8 miles north-west of Norwich. Its name is derived from the Manor of Longaville in Normandy, France, which owned the local land in the 12th century.

History

The Domesday book recorded that this manor was under the ownership of the Bishop of Bayeux.

The village was home to 18th century clergyman and diarist, the Parson Woodforde, whose work exhibits a fondness of food and ale, and in whose honour the village pub is named.

A World War II airfield located within the parish is now a turkey farm. Weston Hall and Park, also within the parish, offers a golf course and a Dinosaur Adventure Park, the latter a local tourist attraction.
