Ludmila Cervanova (Ľudmila Cervanová) (born 15 October, 1979 in Piestany, Czechoslovakia) is a professional female tennis player from Slovakia. She turned Pro in 1997.

Cervanova was born in Piestany and currently still lives in her birthplace.

Biography

Cervanova graduated from high school in 1997, the same year she turned pro. Her favourite tennis court surface is clay, and her best shot is the backhand. She is coached by Jan Kuval. Apart from tennis, she enjoys reading, swimming and beach volleyball. Her favorite places to visit are Paris and Rio de Janeiro. She also has a great attitude to tennis, as she describes herself as ambitious, hard-working and capricious.

Tennis career

Cervanova is yet to win any WTA Tour titles, her closest being in Acapulco, on February 27 2005, where she lost in the final to Flavia Pennetta 3–6 7–5 6–3. She has also reached the final of the tournament Casablanca in 2004, where she lost to Emilie Loit of France, 6–2 6–2 and the semi-final of Bratislava in 2001, where she lost to Rita Grande of Italy 6–3 6–2. Recently she reached the semi final of Bogota in 2006, losing to Lourdes Dominguez Lino 6–1 6–3.

She has won 7 ITF Women's Circuit singles titles, and 6 ITF Women's Circuit doubles titles. The ITF Tour is a tier below the WTA Tour.

Ranking

Currently, she is ranked 211th in the world in singles. She reached a career high of 58 in the world in singles in March 1st, 2004 and 186 in doubles in May 5th, 1997. To date she has won $655,322 in prize money. She is the Slovak Number 5, with Daniela Hantuchova being the Number 1, Martina Sucha being the 2nd, Jarmila Gajdosova being 3rd and Henrieta Nagyova being 4th.

Progress in Grand Slam tournaments

Cervanova has made little progress in each of the 4 Grand Slam tournaments, her best reaching the 3rd round of Wimbledon in 2004, and the 3rd round of the French Open in 2002.
