The University of Houston System at Sugar Land, often referred to as UHS at Sugar Land or UHSSL, was founded in 1996 as a higher education "teaching center" of the University of Houston System located in Sugar Land, Texas. It was originally named the Fort Bend Institute, and later the University of Houston System at Fort Bend prior to its current name.

The UH System at Sugar Land is designed to allow students who live in Sugar Land or eastern Fort Bend County to take upper-division and graduate-level college courses from four of the constituent institutions of the University of Houston System. At the center, one can earn their bachelor's or master's degree in a variety of areas (32 as of 2005) including history, English, or various fields of science (including petroleum engineering) or business administration. Additionally, those students who are unsure of their undergraduate academic major or who wish to have a hand in designing their own can elect to earn a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the nowrap|University of Houston–Downtown.
