The college was founded as the Simpson Bible Institute in
Seattle in 1921 and named for Dr.Albert B. Simpson , a 19th centuryChristian evangelist and founder of theChristian and Missionary Alliance . In 1955, the college was moved to Silver Avenue inSan Francisco and renamed Simpson Bible College. In 1968, the college was granted regional accreditation by theWestern Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In 1971, theBible college curriculum was joined with a liberal arts platform and the institution was renamed Simpson College. The school was relocated to its current campus in Redding in 1989.Academics
Simpson offers
undergraduate degree programs through its three divisions: Theology and Ministry, Science and Business, and Humanities. The university also offers graduate degrees in education and Christian ministry. The A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary opened in the fall semester of 2007, offering graduate degrees in Bible and Theology.Athletics
The school's sports teams are called the Red Hawks. The teams participate in the
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in theCalifornia Pacific Conference . Joe Griffin is currently the athletic director, and the athletic department currently has several coaches in each sport.External links
