Aritzia is a Canadian clothing company for young females that was started in Vancouver, British Columbia in the Hill's department store in Kerrisdale in 1984 and now has 11 of its stores in Vancouver. Aritzia also owns the TNA stores. Aritzia operates a total of 30 stores, with locations in Toronto (9), Calgary (3), Edmonton (2), Ottawa (2), Kitchener (1), Winnipeg (1), Seattle (1), and San Jose (1) and their recently opened San Francisco store. They are continuing their US expansion, opening two boutiques in Chicago.

Brands

Aritzia features its own brands, by the names of TNA (Talula National Athletics), Talula, Talula Babaton, Community, and their higher end brand, Wilfred. Nonetheless, other labels carried include Kensie girl, BCBGirls, Mavi Jeans, Dish, UGG Australia, Vans, LeSportsac, Community, Rock & Republic, Seven for All Mankind, Adidas and magazines such as Nylon, Pockawear, and The Fader. Aside from clothing and accessories, Aritzia also sells a limited number of notebooks, pens, and books, and has sold chocolate and popcorn from Dylan's Candy Bar. They have just added Marc by Marc Jacobs to their lineup of brands.

Culture

Aritzia tries to maintain a strong cultural link through its featured artist of the month (artwork as seen on their shopping bags). They are sponsor to FUSE at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and play indie and electronica tracksFact|date=June 2008. Artists such as Amy Winehouse, Patti Smith, Stars, Bat For Lashes, Simian Mobile Disco, Peter, Bjorn and John, Lily Allen, Justice, Daft Punk, Bloc Party, Vampire Weekend, and M.I.A. can often be heard in their stores. Location designs are also quite unique, with an aritstic and modern flair. The store claims its designs are reflective of the city and its residents and that no two boutiques are alike. Popularity

Aritzia has become one of the top apparel retailers in Canada. Its brands have experience widespread popularity from females, and even Hollywood celebrities. Clothing from Aritzia has been spotted on Jessica Alba, Victoria Beckham, Rachel Bilson, Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johansson, Amanda Bynes and Hilary Duff. Stores are often busy, and they have been known to experience long lineups on Boxing Day. Since 2005, the company has had explosive growth, doubling their locations. Stores are often the number one or number two retailers in their respective malls, with sales usually exceeding $1000 per square feet. Collaborations

In 2007, British band Bloc Party did a collaboration with Aritzia on a T-shirt design. Seven for All Mankind and Kensiegirl both have designed exclusive items of clothing for Aritzia. Seven for All Mankind has only ever designed jeans for Barneys New York.

Sustainability

Aritzia claims it has a commitment to sustainability. Their stores use low energy lighting, earth-friendly paint and wood-free shopping bags.
