Colombia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1932, and has sent athletes to compete in all but one edition of the Summer Olympic Games since then, missing only the 1952 Games. Colombia has only participated in the Winter Olympic Games in the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Colombian athletes have won a total of eleven Olympic medals in six different sports. María Isabel Urrutia won the nation's first and (as of 2011) only gold medal in 2000.

The National Olympic Committee for Colombia was created in 1936 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1948.
