"The New Paper" is Singapore's second-highest circulating paid English-language newspaper, first launched on July 26, 1988, by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). Its daily circulation is around 110,000.

"The New Paper" is a newspaper in tabloid form, and published daily in the morning from 7 A.M. onwards. There is also a late sports noon edition that hits the newsstands on Mondays and Thursdays that give more special coverage of late-night soccer matches that were being played at the time of printing.

It is the second most-read paid English daily in Singapore [http://www.sph.com.sg/newspapers/newpaper.html SPH The New Paper] , with an average daily readership of about half a million. It is often compared to the freesheet tabloid "Today", although the latter positions itself against "The Straits Times".

Much easier to read than "The Straits Times", it targets readers with more eye-catching "tabloid"-style journalism coupled with often sensationalised headlines. It tends to highlight selected pieces of human stories every day coupled with extensive sections on entertainment, fashion and sports, and with relatively-little coverage on general current affairs from the local or international scene.

"The New Paper" is particularly noted for its coverage of soccer and the English Premier League.
