History

WWOD started out as a religious broadcaster under the call sign of WGLV in the early 1990s, before adopting the oldies format and current calls in 2000. The call letters were previously found on a radio station in Lynchburg, Virginia until it went off the air in the mid 1980s. Old photos and airchecks from the 1970s are at Twin Cities Radio Airchecks/WWOD. WFYX started out under the call sign of WLPL in early 2001, changing to WCFR (no relation to the current WCFR located in Springfield, Vermont) in 2005 and the WPLY calls later that year and to the current calls in October 2008. [1] WFYX has simulcasted the oldies format of WWOD since signing on in 2001. [2]
