"The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" is a pop rap song written by Don Bryant, Missy Elliott, Bernard Miller, Ann Peebles, and producer Timbaland. Released as the first single from Missy Elliott's debut album "Supa Dupa Fly" in 1997 (see 1997 in music), it reached the top twenty in the UK and New Zealand. The song contains a sample from Ann Peebles' 1974 "I Can't Stand the Rain", and serves as the chorus.

ong information

"The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" was performed at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards by Missy Elliott and Timbaland as a tribute to Hype Williams, who directed the video for the single and was awarded the Video Vanguard Award that night. Music video

The single's video was directed by Hype Williams. The video does not have a substantial plot and was meant to be futuristic in style. 702, Da Brat, Lil' Kim, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Total, Yo-Yo and SWV made cameos in the video.

It opens with Missy Elliott and dancers performing on a stage. Scenes with Elliott in an inflated suit intercut throughout the video. During the second verse, Elliott and Timbaland ride in a Hummer (though she refers to it as a Jeep) to the beach. During the third verse, Elliott is seen in a green outfit sitting on a hill against a blue sky and clouds with intercuts of scenes with female dancers in yellow raincoats dance in a room where it rains and lightning flashes.
